Talking about the seating, the LS trim is offered with cloth upholstery seats and the LT trim will get cloth/leatherette upholstery seats and a small storage drawer under the front passenger seat. Also standard is single-zone air-conditioning (manual) on both trims. The Buick Encore on the other hand offers the same combined MPG but loses out in highway and gains in the city MPG compared to the Trax. However, the Honda HR-V is available with a smaller fuel tank but offers better MPG figures allowing it to get a better range than the Chevrolet Trax. The 2022 Chevrolet Trax continues to offer a 14.0-gallon fuel tank allowing it to have a range of 378 miles combined. That said, the 2022 Trax when equipped with AWD, returns 1 MPG less in the city, 2 MPG less on the highway, and 1 MPG less combined compared to the FWD model. When compared to the 2021 Trax, the city and highway figures have dropped by 2 and 1 MPG, respectively. The 2022 Chevrolet Trax with the new turbo-four engine gets an EPA estimated gas mileage of 24 MPG in the city, 32 MPG on the highway, and 27 MPG combined. The brake pedal is progressive and feels firm. The braking is consistent and the brake bite is powerful enough to bring this small SUV to a halt in no time. While the smaller footprint coupled with the light steering wheel makes the Trax easy to maneuver in city traffic or tight spaces. As for the brakes, the 2022 Trax gets ABS on all four corners with the front being disc while at the rear you get drum brakes. Part of the credit comes to the firm suspension setup. The 2022 Trax is a tallboy although contrary to popular belief it exhibits lesser body roll and remains planted even during high-speed rides. With the improvement in power and torque, it performs similar to the Buick Encore which gets the same engine. Coming to the performance figures, the 2022 Trax is able to sprint from 0-60 MPH in just 8.7 seconds, while covering the quarter mile in 16.4 seconds. The 2022 Trax can be had with an AWD as well by paying an additional amount of $620. The Redline and Midnight packages offer cosmetics enhancements while the rest of them offer more convenience and safety features. In terms of options and packages, there are a few on both trims, but the LT comes with better options which include the popular LT Convenience package, Midnight Package, Redline Edition, Driver Confidence Package, and Premium Seat Package. As standard, a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine and FWD drivetrain are found in the 2022 Trax and have the option of an AWD drivetrain as well. The 2022 Chevrolet Trax is available in the same two trim options as its predecessor namely LS and LT.

7/27/2023 0 Comments Crush the industry gameArcade games were meant to get as many quarters from you as possible.Ĭonsider the game “Dragon’s Lair,” recently repopularized by its appearance in the second season of Netflix’s 1980s nostalgic thriller “Stranger Things.” The hand-animated cinematic arcade game was composed of a series of button presses that correlated to a character's action. I realized that games back then were much harder than they are now. Some might complain that video games are too easy now, but looking at the current video game landscape, it makes sense that there was a general shift in difficulty. I recently spent some time in an arcade pumping some quarters into some classic games. Both kids and adults wanted to experience the euphoric novelty of the arcade: whirring sounds, flashing lights, screaming for joy when reaching a new high score, the clanking of the air hockey table and the sound of change hitting metal. The 1980s were the golden age for arcade games. It’s just that how it's made money has changed. Because of course, the gaming industry, even when it was much smaller, was always a for-profit industry. To follow the capitalistic arc of the video game industry, a brief history lesson is in order. Contemporary game designers are motivated to spend more of their time adding features that play into players’ psychology, manipulating them into opening their wallets. (Contrast that with the film industry, which had only $11.4 billion in box office receipts in the same year.) And while some games are still produced by small indie studios, the gaming world is much like Hollywood, with a few big players spending tens of millions to produce games that will reap that much or more.īut with big corporations controlling huge swaths of the gaming industry, the precepts of video gaming have inevitably changed – and the field’s artistry has been subsumed by the need for profit. When I say big, I mean really big: Forbes reports that in 2016, the gaming industry in the U.S. Since going mainstream in the 1980s, video games have evolved from a nerdy lark to a big industry. 7/27/2023 0 Comments Eye spliceSome of the data that are collected include the number of visitors, their source, and the pages they visit anonymously.Īdvertisement cookies are used to provide visitors with relevant ads and marketing campaigns. Tom Parry, senior report for TTG and TTG Luxury, shares his experienceĪ spin-off of luxury gym chain Equinox, the hotel originally opened in New York last summer, and is located in Hudson Yards, the largest private real-estate development in US history and the largest development in the city since Rockefeller Centre. Other factors influencing the timing of the equinoxes and solstices include variations in the length of a tropical year and in the orbital and daily rotational motion of the Earth, such as the “wobble” in the Earth's axis (precession). From vitamin drips to ‘lifestyle management programmes’, the Equinox hotel is leading the way with health-centric urban stays. When this happens, the equinox and solstice dates shift back to the earlier date again. To realign the calendar with the tropical year, a leap day is introduced (nearly) every four years. Eventually, the accumulated lag becomes so large that it falls on the following date. This means that the timing of the equinoxes and solstices slowly drifts apart from the Gregorian calendar, and the solstice happens about 6 hours later each year. However, our planet takes about 365.242199 days to orbit the Sun. Today's Gregorian calendar has 365 days in a common year and 366 days in a leap year. The date of the equinoxes and solstices varies because a year in our calendar does not exactly match the length of the tropical year-the time it takes the Earth to complete an orbit around the Sun. Tropical years from 1900 to 2100 Why Does the Date Vary? It can vary by up to 30 minutes each year. Also known as a solar year, a tropical year is approximately 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 45 seconds long. The March equinox can be used to measure a tropical year, the mean time it takes for the Earth to complete a full orbit around the Sun. The equinox in March is the start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of fall south of the equator.Įquinox and solstice dates-years 1-2149 Measuring the Tropical Year The March and September equinoxes mark the beginning of the spring and autumn seasons on Earth, according to one definition. In reality, equinox days don’t have exactly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of dark.Įquilux: when day and night are (actually) equalĪstronomical terms & definitions The Equinoxes and the Seasons However, this is literal translation not entirely true. This is the reason it’s called an “equinox,” derived from Latin, meaning “equal night.” In other words, night and day are, in principle, the same length all over the world. On the days of the equinoxes, the Earth’s axis is perpendicular to the Sun’s rays, meaning that all regions on Earth receive about the same number of hours of sunlight. As the Earth travels toward the opposite side of its orbit, which it reaches in December, the Southern Hemisphere gradually receives more sunlight, and the subsolar point travels south.Įarth is tilted as it orbits the Sun, which is why equinoxes and solstices happen. In June, the Northern Hemisphere is tilted toward the Sun, and the subsolar point is north of the equator. The subsolar point moves north and south during the year because the Earth’s axis is tilted at an angle of about 23.4° in relation to the ecliptic, an imaginary plane created by Earth’s path around the Sun. The June solstice marks the northernmost point of its journey. Having reached its southernmost point at the December solstice, it starts moving northward until it crosses the equator on the day of the March equinox. Sun rise/set and day length around this equinoxĭuring the course of a year, the subsolar point-the spot on the Earth's surface directly beneath the Sun-slowly moves along a north-south axis. This corresponds to Monday, 20 March 2023, 21:24 UTC. PS: We had half of our end of year art exam last Wednesday, where we had to draw a face, and then split it into four different segments and draw it in four different styles. Also, I've just chosen to study fine art for GCSE (O-Level) next year, so woo! That's what I've been drawing all of the shoes in here for. Just ugh.īut anyway, I hope you like this! It took me some time as I was doing it in half-an-hour periods at Lunchtime in school. I'd got a new inkpen (as before I was using biro, as you can probably see) and I was just going over some of Rizac's fur when I though, hey, why don't I strengthen the lines around Scarlett's lips, nose and eyes? And then - ugh. It just looks like the the love child of Quagmire and Sharon Osbourne.Īnd then, silly me, I changed my tools. I did Mikai first and lil' Alexander last, and I'm just irked with Mikai's chin and hair. I did this drawing over a period of several weeks, and have literally only just finished it. Jasmine's incredibly cruel to my beloved Mik. I actually don't tend to like supernatural romances that much, but this series is just indescribably excellent. I can't include much more information because virtually everything is a spoiler, but it's set in Salem at the end of the nineteenth century. It follows the story of lycan hunter Mikai Vance and his unexpected romance with a half-lycan outcast called Scarlett. <3Īnyway, I did some more fan-art for the first instalment of Band Child's epic, dark-fantasy saga, Little Red Wolf. I know in one of the first chapters he roasts Mikai about Elizabeth and is incredibly salty to his ex-wife, but HE'S JUST SO CUTE, LIKE HE WANTED TO BE A DOCTOR BUT HE GAVE UP HIS PROFESSION TO AVENGE HIS SISTER. Last year, the show spent a full episode making fun of a Spin writer’s reaction to one of its episodes.Honestly, I know it's relatively far from cannon, but I just see Vincent as such a precious, pure, innocent cinnamon roll. This isn’t the first time that South Park, currently in its 19th season, has addressed real-world reactions to the show. I’m very happy my wife is as accepting haha.” As far as I know, I still haven’t been disowned yet haha. My mom has read all my fanfics and my dads walked in on his fare share of creek porn. She told one her followers that her family has “known since I was sixteen. User earily also had her art featured in the episode, which she watched with her family. “Keep drawing and never stop because holy shit there’s going to be even more opportunities like this for you.” “This is probably the greatest thing ever I just- I don’t have the words haha,” they wrote after the episode, adamant the artists featured should not be discouraged. I found them because the show left their watermark intact. Tumblr user beansofyuki managed to score a spot in the episode (above). And when Trey Parker and Matt Stone decided it was finally time to acknowledge Creek and their surprisingly robust online fandom, they went straight to the source, soliciting real drawings from users online. A cursory search of DeviantArt shows Creek art dating back to 2005. (Yaoi is, of course, a popular genre of anime and manga focusing on two young men in an intense romantic, often sexual, relationship.) Tweek and Craig insist they are straight, but the entire town comes out in support of their “ Boys’ Love.”įor anyone paying attention to the world of South Park fan media, the pairing of Tweek and Craig was hardly a surprise: For at least a decade, people on the internet have been drawing fan art of the love between this two characters (a ship known as “Creek”). Last week’s episode of South Park featured a great deal of fan art, as two of the show’s characters, Tweek and Craig, discover that they are the subjects of Yaoi fan art drawn by their new Japanese classmates. Now imagine seeing your art suddenly appear on the show itself. Imagine devoting time to drawing loving depictions of a romantic relationship between two minor and ostensibly straight male South Park characters. 7/26/2023 0 Comments Led panel tvIt has also meant that LED TVs run with greater energy efficiency and can provide a clearer, better picture than the general LCD TVs. The origin of the latte is a little harder to pin down as various European countries had their own milky coffee variants, but they tended to be drunk at home rather than in cafes. That extra volume is made up of more milk, but the layer of foam on top of a latte is smaller than that of a cappuccino. A cappuccino has traditionally been around 180ml – 200ml, while a latte is more usually 200ml to 300ml. The main difference between a latte and a cappuccino is usually the size. So what’s a latte then?Ī latte is short for the Italian term caffè latte, which just translates as ‘milk coffee’. Of course, it’s not a real cappuccino until it’s had that sprinkle of chocolate over the top. The top third of the drink is made up of that distinctive layer of milk foam. However, that’s not the only dairy addition to it. The colour that inspired the name is achieved by the addition of hot milk to the cappuccino, roughly matching the volume of the double espresso. Cappuccino is the Italian version of the name. There it was known by the German name Kapuziner, which seems to have been a reference to the similarity between the colour of the drink and the colour of the habits worn by Capuchin monks. The cappuccino as we know it came from Italy, but the first recorded version of the drink emerged in Austrian coffee houses of the 1700s. But enough about espresso, back to the cappuccino. What this produces is espresso! It’s thicker than most coffee and has a creamy foam on the top called the crema. The coffee is ground more finely than for other methods of brewing coffee and these grounds have a small amount of hot water forced through them under pressure. To make a proper espresso you need a machine. So, at this point, we should probably take a moment out to explain what constitutes an espresso. We’ve all enjoyed a frothy coffee treat at one time or another, but what makes a cappuccino a cappuccino? Well, we mentioned an espresso earlier on and a cappuccino is, in fact, made with a double espresso. On the downside, we should probably have done our research with decaff lattes and cappuccinos because we’re not sure we’re going to make it back to sleep before tomorrow morning. We’re always keen to use this blog section to answer some of the common questions that our customers have, and when it comes to enjoying a splash or more of Graham’s Milk, one of the big questions is what’s the difference between a latte and a cappuccino? Well, we’re nothing if not dedicated to the cause so we’ve spent this morning doing our research and we’re ready to bring you the answer. We’re counting a cup of espresso in that too – after all, there’s still room to add a thimbleful of Gold Top! At Graham’s The Family Dairy we love a good cup of coffee and there’s no coffee that isn’t improved by one our range of delicious milks. |
